First Interview



Well today I had my first CARMS interview. It went ok. I like to talk a lot, but all and all a very pleasant experience. I was wearing my power suit and my power shoes, so how could I not feel confident.

After the interview I went to the gym and then home for supper and shower. Then me and the girls went out for candy cane latte's and a movie. We went to see "The Holiday". It was great. Jude Law is quite dreamy. I was bad at the movies and had nachos. Why did I bother going to the gym in the first place.

Well anyway all in all it was a pretty busy day.

Tomorrow its off to the gym and then the mall to pick up a few last minute things.

Weakness!!!

Thats me in a nut shell. I have like no will power. I was trying on my suit that my parents bought me for my med school interviews. 4 years old but hasn't been worn much. Just for 2 med school interviews and a thesis defense. Well I was trying it on for my residency interviews. It fits but the pants are those high waist ones. They fall ok but the waist is a bit tight and the jacket seems to be a bit big and its a longer type of jacket. So I broke down. I went to the mall on a hunt. I found this amazing navy blue pin stripe Mexx suit. Tried it on. Thought it was amazing but needed a second opinion so I ran home got heather and made her come with me. After I woke her up, that is. LOL. Anyway she thought it was amazing. We dropped off the pants to be hemmed and will be ready Thursday evening. It was 400 and a bit for the whole thing but its beautiful. Fits like a glove. I'll make heather take pics Thursday night and post them.

So in other news: I get my hair cut tomorrow and my graduation pictures on Thursday. I'm so not in the mood to get pics. But I suppose I have to. Just not into it, thats all. Oh well not everyday there is going to be a doc in the family I suppose.

CARMS

Yes, Canadian Automated Residency Matching Service. Also know as lottery.

I think its going to be the death of me. Who would think that it would take so long to write a personal letter or that you would have to make so many changes. And then its the having to have a backup incase you don't get into the program that you want. Its probably one of the most frustrating things that I've ever done. Because eventhough I've will soon have completed ten years of university, I may not get into the residency program that I want.

So I therefore call the system the lottery.

Well all the paper work is due for the lottery on Friday. Thanks god I'm soon finished. I have everything saved on my trusty USB port because I'm just not brave enough to trust my computer with all my personal letter revisions. Yes the computer that sounds like an airplane is taking off when I start it, the computer that will be going in for repairs when I go to Australia, because who really needs a computer in Australia. That is if I don't breakdown and buy a Apple before then. I'm on an apple kick right now. I want to get one bad but I don't want to add the cost to my line of credit. I'm still thinking about it. But then how can I justify 3 laptops.

Oh life is full of decisions

Well after all my stuff is in to CARMS I will be going out for a good drink and start praying that I'll actually get some interviews.

Christmas Shopping Done

Yes thats right. All my christmas shopping is finished. Got Lucas's gifts today. I think he will be pretty pleased with them. The top one he asked for to go with his train set. The second was just something I thought he would like. Thats right I like to spoil my nephew. But he's the only one I got so I may as well spoil him.

Christmas shopping

Well today I finished my Christmas shopping for Shannon. Just Lucas left to buy for now. I really spoiled shannon this year. But he so deserves it. I even finished his stocking shopping. I may get him one more thing for that but otherwise I'm all finished for him.

I also dusted and cleaned up my room today.

Still never made my Christmas cookies yet for Shannon's mom.

Well its a short post tonight. But at least its a post.

Was just watching some Harry Potter and working on some personal letters. I had a long nap tonight. It felt so good. I love naps.

Skating Anyone!!!

So Heather and I went skating tonight. It was a Newfoundland Medical Society sponsored thing. It was really fun. Had lots of hot chocolate and had some fun skating. Yah!! I did not fall on my butt or my face. I always think thats a plus. It was kind of cold when we got there but it warmed up pretty fast.

So my honey is gone out to dinner tonight with his friend Daniel. Hope he has a fun time. He so deserves it. He works so hard. He deserves a good night out with some fellas.

Well soon be Christmas time. I'm so excited. Get to go home again this year. I love being able to do that. But may not be able to go home next year, depending on where I am and what I'm working. So we will have to really enjoy this year. But thats ok so long as I'm with my honey I'll be happy. Maybe I'll get into obs then and we will have our little house with a little puppy. He wants a golden retriever and I want a Lab. LOL. We will probably get a lab but I must admit that a Golden Retriever is pretty nice as well. I know Shannon would be so good with a puppy too. I don't think he ever had a dog as a kid. I think all kids should have a dog. They are so special. I can just see me getting home from work with shannon and the puppy having cooked supper waiting for me. He is so sweet like that. I guess that is what love is.

So my sister was telling me all the goodies she was cookie for Christmas. I can't wait. Pizza rolls, chicken pot pies, meat pies, pies, cookies, hmm and of course turkey. We get 2 turkey dinners now because my sis makes one now too. Got to love that. Way too much food but so good.

Shannon and I will be flying in on the 23 and then back again on the 28. Its a quick trip home but its so worth it. I have to see my family and they love him so much. Plus it would be nice to get some dixie lee chicken LOL. Shannon loves it too.
